The Crimson Ghost Empty The Crimson Ghost

THE CRIMSON GHOST
"The courts or the lash. Your choice."

Basic Biography

Real Name: Rupert Gaston
Renegade/Hero/Villain Name: The Crimson Ghost
Title: N/A
Alignment: CG
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Hair: Black
Eyes: Blue
Height: 6'4
Weight: 220 lbs
Blood type: O Negative

The Looks

The Crimson Ghost is a somewhat lanky figure, though obviously someone who takes care of himself. Most of his build is hidden beneath his costume, but his shoulders are usually low and drooped when he isn't actively running or fighting. Picture him as being drawn by Mike Mignola, and you're partway there.

His costume itself is rather simplistic: He wears a black suit with white skeletal motifs and markings, with the actual 'gauntlets' and boots of his costume looking like they're made of harder material and are mainly white. Around his waist is a slim white belt, hiding various small pouches. To the side is a clasp, where he puts a coiled black bullwhip.

Hiding his face and protecting his face is a mix between a mask and a helmet, what is essentially a white skull. His eyes themselves look to be glowing yellow, and one nifty feature of the skull is that the jaw actually moves up and down as Ghost speaks.

Completing the look is a crimson red hooded cape that often masks his gestures and movements, and is absolutely a somewhat flamboyant addition to an otherwise somber and mysterious looking costume.

The Legacy

Personality: Rupert and 'The Ghost' share one thing in common, they're both mean on some level. By day he's an art critic, known for his blog and various articles that involve him absolutely ripping things apart. Art, music, theatre, if someone put their heart into it, he's going to explain in needless detail why it's absolute trash.

At night, when he dons the mask, he's known for his absolute lack of sympathy regarding the criminal element. He's more relaxed in costume, however, finding time to quip or trade banter even when fighting for his life.

The Ghost is someone who's become numb to horror and crime, someone who won't even flinch when coming across a grisly murder scene. He's very much about self control and suppressing his emotions. Until it comes time to brutalize street gangs or supervillains, then he can let all that out on an acceptable target.

History: Rupert Gaston was a young boy when he witnessed his mother's murder. He remembers in vivid detail the killer slipping in through the window, he remembers the smell of blood, the sight of hacked meat and mutilated pulp, he remembers the spray of something hot across his face and neck, the way it turned cold as he ran throughout the night.

He was never close with his father, and the relationship was strained to the breaking point over the coming years. Eventually young Rupert was shipped off to a private school. That is, until he left it, and vanished off the face of the earth.

Many years later Rupert has returned to civilized life, becoming an art critic and owning a small penthouse where he lives and works. Such an unimportant person, few people would link him with the ghastly figure that's been swooping around town, saving lives and brutalizing criminal scum in the process. Nobody would suspect that Rupert Gaston is in actuality...The Crimson Ghost!

The Powers and Weaknesses

(All characters can be as powerful as they want, as long as they are balanced with proper weaknesses.)
Powers

Power 1: Iron Will: Unusually for a regular man, The Crimson Ghost is exceptionally difficult to mind control or hypnotize. Whether it's just incredible training or some form of Super Spirituality, the more mental sorts will meet a lot of resistance when trying to enter the Ghost's mind.

Power 2: Terrifying: This is more useful for NPCs than PCs, but looking upon The Crimson Ghost actually brings about a feeling of fright or revulsion in some, which is stronger the more guilty you are of something. Liars, thieves, murderers, sexual abusers, all feel an increased bit of panic the physically closer he gets to them. It is unknown why this happens, but is theorized to merely be psychological. (And obviously again, this won't really count for PCs. Unless they want to go that extra mile. Which would make them rockstars.)

Power 3: Fighting Prowess: The Crimson Ghost is a combat machine. Whether it's with his bare hands or with weapons, it doesn't matter, Ghost knows a dozen ways to take you down in a fight, and knows a dozen counters to those takedowns, and about a dozen more counters to those counters. He could drop down in the middle of a riot or a prison yard full of UFC fighters, and not be overly concerned.

Weakness(es)

Weakness 1: Terrifying: The Ghost cannot turn it off when in his vigilante guise. It's useful for causing a group of thugs to cower, or useful for causing an opponent to make a mistake. Not so useful when trying to question a suspect, or when trying to rescue a less-than-innocent hostage.

Weakness 2: Temper: For all of Ghost's rational, tactical ability, he can be goaded or provoked in a fight. And this weakness leads directly to number 3, which is...

Weakness 3: Death Wish. It's not confirmed, but even as smart as Ghost is, he has a habit of jumping down into extremely dangerous situations, and would probably be right there helping against cosmic threats that he couldn't possibly hurt. He puts himself in danger constantly, and constantly pushes himself past injuries that he should not be pushing past. It's gonna get him hurt one of these days.

RP Mechanics

RP Mechanic(s):

Great detective

Great disguise skills

Highly analytical mind

Far more stealthy than his costume would suggest.

Items/Minions

He has a number of smaller explosives and smokebombs in his belt, designed to distract and nauseate more than destroy. Other than that, his only other major 'items' are the grapnel-gun he uses to get around with, and the big bullwhip that he uses to enforce justice with. His suit itself is fairly armored, the torso and general body designed more to stop firearms, his actual gauntlets themselves to stop bladed weapons or other melee-based dangers. Lastly, his cape has limited gliding abilities, as well as the ability to misdirect some of his smaller movements.

Physical Priority
(You are to put these physical attributes in order from 1 to 4. 1 is the highest priority, 4 is the lowest.)
Agility: 4
Endurance: 2
Reaction: 1
Strength: 3

I think he's pretty cool. Just elaborate the history a bit (write something about his childhood, I don't know) and make a powergrid. After that, I say: Approved.

So, ok, updated his history, is that good, or should I put more? It would help if I knew about, like...famous actual heroes from history, or even if Pain and them are THE first heroes, or whatnot. Y'know?
