Ill Met By Moonlight, Lilia Empty Ill Met By Moonlight, Lilia

The wilderness of Georgia. What a regular looking place. Well, Vahnuk would change that soon enough. “Ahet vahk ael trooadeen. Voht ael kortah!” The old words surged through his throat and past his metal choker, the Curse-Speaker, and then things began to take shape. Completely illusory, but what could be defined as reality nowadays? If you could see, smell, and hear it, why was it any less real than what you could touch? Reality was the greatest hypocrisy Vahnuk could think of.

And around a beautiful pink and purple tree, elves danced. Sun elves and moon elves, enjoying the merry scent of liquor and flowers. Men, women, and all genders between the two, a representation of Vahnuk’s homeplace was here. In these woods, in this fake place, this was where the memory of his people danced. And so Vahnuk decided that he too would dance. And as the Baron of Moves-Like-This joined his people in their dance, beautiful noises emerged. Harps playing, women singing, men giving battle cries, the most primal of celebrations was being held.

As the merry band of elves danced in circles for hours on end, Vahnuk had decided that he was tired. For now he would merely sit and bask in the glory that was his mind’s art. “If only everyone could experience the world as I do. Perhaps people would not weep so, for beauty is intrinsic to reality. One must simply find the silken strands of truth and weave them into something more. The truth seen through eyes of sapphire, and the lie seen through eyes of ruby, both equally beautiful, though none can say which is real and which is not.”

At this point, Vahnuk had realized that he was giving a monologue with nobody who could truly appreciate it around. Oh well. With a disgruntled sigh, the Sherpa of Lost Paths decided that today was not the day for contemplations on the nature of reality. Because for now, he merely wanted to be happy. And if such heavy thoughts upon his enlightened noggin would make him cease experiencing joy, it would be best to reject them.

And so the sight in that little patch of woodland retained its strangeness. Dancing elves of yellow and grey, and the one who was both yellow and grey, all taking in the natural beauty of the world. With a little bit of enhancement of course. Who ever said only psychoactive drugs altered your perception of the world?

Ill Met By Moonlight, Lilia Empty Re: Ill Met By Moonlight, Lilia

Post by Twinkletoes November 10th 2013, 11:51 pm

Several days had passed since Shayla's departure, the ivory skinned companion of Lilia's slipping out in the middle of the night with nothing more than a farewell letter and a messily drawn stick figure couple on the bottom. Although her sudden disappearance was a rather painful new development Lilia knew that she could not stop her beloved warrior, Shayla was meant to be free. The months of freedom spent with the albino agent were some of the greatest the dainty girl had ever known, just being a normal person for once with Shayla was a blessing in itself; painting her nails, attempting to cook together and...well, having her first proper kiss. The memories burned brightly in her mind and the porcelain skinned girl could ask for nothing more. Something had probably stirred deep in Shayla's heart after Dominus relinquished her and on the eave of autumn she disappeared, leaving no trace to her whereabouts. Her letter stated she was "off to discover herself..." and it made sense why she left so suddenly. Lilia knew it would have been so much more harder for both of them if Shayla left when she was awake, too much crying would have only made the albino uncomfortable.

So life returned to the way it was, living with Skyler and attempting to shape a life for herself that did not involve men climbing on top of her body or prodding her mind. The girl had found a fragment of peace and she fiercely defended it with what might she possessed. No man or monster could harm her here, well...no one but her 'mother'. Although, that too was rare and Illya would only appear when she felt like it, snatching Lilia away like a toy and attempting to create whatever bond she thought they deserved. Lilia still remained adamant on that part and regardless of how supernaturally alluring her biological mother was, she still found it difficult to accept Illya as the person she claimed to be.

It was on a particularly starry night that the petite ballerina slipped out of the comfortable confines of her bed with Skyler, the whistling of wind and the soft snores of her silver haired protector keeping her awake. The girl was clothed in nothing more than pastel pink knickers and an oversized basketball jersey that drooped halfway down her skinny thighs. Skyler had given it to her. The pink scars on her legs and feet shimmered in the pale moonlight as she crept by the large arched window. The clock by her bedside quietly clicked, tick...tick...tick it  chirped, the little arms just passing over the '2', just past midnight. Her bare feet brushed over the carpeted flooring, quietly so as to not wake and worry Skyler at such a time, the older woman was sure to disapprove of late night ventures alone. Sleeping tended to be a challenge ever since Illya showed up and the young Fae thought it best to relieve the stress from her mind and simply go sit underneath the stars and watch them pass over her. It was only just before her dainty bare legs had reached the back door did a familiar whizzing sound breeze behind her, the clicking of a holographic tongue breaking the silence.

"You know, if you're sneaking out to meet a boy I'm going to wake up Skyler right now." An automated voice sarcastically chirped, a pale blue figure appearing on the counter top tight where Lilia was passing by. AIVA had spotted her, well...that really shouldn't of been a surprise, she was a security program so it would have been bad if she didn't appear.

"It's not that!" Lilia whispered back, forcing the zipper on the jersey all the way up so that it rested against her chin. "I just can't sleep...please, please, please don't tell Skyler. She needs her sleep and I'm just going for a little walk..." Lilia admitted, furrowing her brow as her bare feet brushed over one another. Convincing AIVA was lie dealing with a stubborn mule. "If anything happens I'll come back instantly. I promise you, pinky promise!" Lilia said quietly with a nod, offering her pinky for the snarky little hologram to accept.

"...fine. But go no further than two hundred meters, I'll know if you do." The A.I sternly pointed, lightly tapping her tiny finger against Lilia's. "Don't get lost."

The ballerina could do nothing more than obediently nod her head in agreement before slipping out the back door. The cool night breeze kissed her thighs the instance Lilia had ventured out on to the paddock behind the property, the cold grass tickling the soles of her feet as she carefully made her way past the 'tool shed' (One of Skyler's many armouries) and into the woods that lined the rim of the old daisy field. Two hundred meters was enough for the girl to work with, the serene forest embracing her with the welcome scents of chestnuts and mildew. The distant glow of the house soon disappeared behind an ancient oak tree and Lilia was left with nothing more than the whispers of the wind and the sounds of her own breathing. It was cool but pleasant, her pale legs seemingly glowing beneath the silvery tendrils of moonlight that streamed through the emerald canopy overhead. Lunar moths fluttered around her and rabbits scuttled too and fro as she quietly trudged through a mound of daffodils, gently brushing her fingertips over the sleeping flowers as if they were sleeping infants.

It was several minutes into her quiet exploration of the woods that a distant drumming began to fade in and out of the wind, like the breeze itself was carrying the peculiar sounds. Part of the girl instantly shied away from the noise, demanding she return home back to Skyler...but the rest of her could not deny the mysterious sensation of the melody. What was it? One their neighbours singing karaoke? At this time, probably not. Maybe it was someone blasting their speakers on the highway down the side of the mountain, a possibility although the sound was steady and did not disappear like a speeding car's would.

Clenching her dainty fists and wriggling her toes into the moist earth the girl stood motionless for a second, feeling the steady tempo of her heart join the sound. With nothing more than a glance back at the glow of her house Lilia quietly set off towards the noise that danced through the air. The further she walked the louder the sound became and a cocktail of emotions began to sprout deep in her soul. Was this a trap? Another one of Illya's demented tests? Or was this something else entirely? Swallowing her fear, the bare legged ballerina tip toed over a trickling stream before the brilliant sounds of laughter and singing began to leap into the air.

A few more steps and the voices became clearer, the laughter evolving into a chorus of beautiful joy and merriment. The young Fae could not deny herself the chance to gaze upon what mystery lay behind the thick berry bushes so she steadily balanced herself on the edge of a boulder, standing on the tips of her toes as she gazed at the brilliant spectacle before her.

She gasped.

Ill Met By Moonlight, Lilia Empty Re: Ill Met By Moonlight, Lilia

Post by keblinky November 11th 2013, 12:19 am

Vahnuk heard a tiny sound pierce the cacophony of joy around him. Elves stopped dancing, but the music didn’t go silent. No, it simply bent itself into something else entirely. An eerie tune, warning all around that this was the King’s domain, and not a place where humans would be allowed to roam free. He had nothing against humans, but they tended to ruin parties. Especially gatherings like this. No elf could resist a gathering under moonlight, and there were many other creatures that could not help themselves either. He knew that the pull of the moon was strong, where moonlight shined worlds blended. And even fleeting glimpses of his old homeplace where more than enough for his tired old soul.

The King’s domain was all that he saw, and so once this being was spied by his eyes she would be under his rule. And if she did no foul, she would also be his to protect and guide. For what king would let one of his sheep go astray? No king, for to be a king was to be kingly, and to not be kingly was to deny your existence. Moving away from the gathering, Vahnuk stared at the world, one eye blue and one eye red, but both seeing truth unfiltered by opinion.

There! Behind a boulder. The gasp had come from there, and Vahnuk spied a pretty little eye. Stepping up, letting his foot rest upon the air by the third way, Vahnuk rose. Looking down upon his newfound subject, Vahnuk noticed certain things. This creature seemed to be of porcelain, her features were as delicate as her body seemed to be. Tiny and frail, she was beautiful in one of many ways. Another thing was that she lacked a certain spark. The little glow behind a human’s eyes. What she did have was an aura of blackened trickery.

“Hail Fae of the Unseelie! Aet arn Fae kadar Unseelie! Privet Fae Neblagogo! Witam Fae z Unseelie! Bonjour Fae de la Unseelie!” English, Elven, Russian, Polish, and French. He hoped she understood at least one. He could rattle off more greetings, but those would take time, and for now it did not appear as if he needed to give her any further hellos.

And now, as he saw that the threat was not true, Vahnuk let his elves recommence the celebration. Music roared once more, men and women alike danced, and all was correct in the world. He felt like speaking some more Russian, it was a far more beautiful language than English or French. “Prekrasnaya ledi , my mozhem tantsevat'?” The question posed was simple, whether she wished to dance. And if she said yes all would be well, and if she said no? Then all would be well once more, he ruled not by force, but by consent. If a subject did not wish to do something, they did not, it was simple yet elegant. He just hoped she would join him in the air to take a twirl throughout the sky.

Ill Met By Moonlight, Lilia Empty Re: Ill Met By Moonlight, Lilia

Post by Twinkletoes November 11th 2013, 1:09 am

The hearty maelstrom of music and laughter momentarily wavered, as if Lilia's whispery voice was a gunshot during the peculiar festivities. The beings that frolicked back and forth were unlike anything the girl had seen before and yet they were so familiar at the same time; beautiful, frightening and otherworldly, not unlike her mother. The very image of Illya spiked a sliver of dread in the pit of Lilia's stomach and for a moment she wondered if she was wrong to follow the music, fearing that this was just another nightmarish prank Illya was putting on her. But her fleeting glances at the golden fair-folk only forced another wave of curiosity, these beings looked warm and playful, not cruel and sadistic like her icy parent. Their elegance was unmatched and their voices were dreamy, almost unreal as they carefully pranced around the moonlight, warily keeping their brilliant gazes away from where the dainty teenager hid.

Lilia swiftly huddled behind the boulder, hugging her body tight just in case one of the wondrous figures had seen her. She was small enough to hide, and the darkness of the woods would shield her escape if necessary. A moment of consideration later and Lilia finally noticed the large shadow that careened across the moonlit kissed grass, looming high above her like a terrifyingly beautiful statue. Sapphire and ruby gazed upon her like two windows to another world, a sweet earthy scent filling her nose as the very tall and very handsome 'man' looked down upon her. He was a marvellous sight, equally worthy of her superstitious awe and fear. What creature was he? An envoy for her mother? A metahuman? The more she thought the less sense it made and it was only until the golden haired man spoke did it finally hit her.

This man and his companions were Fae! Well, from what her mother had told her these dashing creatures looked to be like the Elves of the ancient world. Dangerous and majestic, wise and rowdy; these beings surpassed her feeble expectations and only served to distract her further. How could he know she was a Fae? That wasn't something Lilia openly shared or even hoped to admit and hearing it from a stranger only seemed more jarring.

"H-how did you know...?" The girl whispered back in her mother tongue, the melodic qualities of her girlish Russian sweetly kissing the air around her. Even though she was frightened Lilia could not deny the Elf her basic courtesies and she awkwardly bowed her head, the lazily made ponytail flopping over her shoulder. Questions spilled into her mind and Lilia did her best to keep them quiet, not entirely sure if whether she should trust this grand elf. Weren't the magical creatures supposed to fear the Unseelie? Lilia sure did and she was one!

"Sir...what is your name?"She said quietly, flitting her gaze over to several of the forest folk dancing around. She did not feel so naked compared to some of the assembled Elves, she was dressed quite modestly albeit messily compared to them in her oversized jersey and her messy bed hair.

Staring at her feet Lilia wasn't sure what to make of the very tall and handsome elf. What was she supposed to do? Illya was yet to teach her any Fae etiquette and even if she did Lilia probably ignored whilst sulking.  Was he someone to be trusted? Was he even real?

But there was one thing for certain, he did not seem threatening even if he towered over her. His offer for a dance may have seemed peculiar but the fairy tales had taught her that Elves loved to dance and have merry gatherings. Was this just an innocent gesture by another who thought her like them? The girl fumbled with the edges of her jersey for a moment and flickered her shimmering eyes back and forth between the dancing elves and the figure offering her to dance.

"...I'm not wearing my dancing clothes..." Lilia whispered, blushing ever so slightly as she gazed at a bare chested female frolicking away with another equally beautiful raven haired male.

Ill Met By Moonlight, Lilia Empty Re: Ill Met By Moonlight, Lilia

Post by keblinky November 11th 2013, 9:00 am

The girl was so meek! For an Unseelie Fae, she was really quite the charmer. Most of the Unseelie Vahnuk had seen were quite rude, and insisted on tricking his subjects into strange actions. Well, he had put an end to that back in his homeplace, but it appeared to be quite commonplace for Fae to appear on Earth. “How did I know? When an elf has lived for longer than most species have existed, he learns things. A knowledge of the occult beyond your dreams Hla Gahmerdehn, serves me quite well. Though do not make the mistake of assuming I am Fae. I am who I am, and that is not one of the folk beyond-the-place, or as you would call them, Fae.”

Still floating above her, Vahnuk gazed at the little woman. Hla Gahmerdehn he had named her, little princess. This name would resound through all existence, for it was truer than most, and if ill befell her, perhaps it would come to her aid at some point.

“My name? I have many names. The Walker of the Ways, Taker of the Milk, Sleeper of Demons, Bedder of Flames, Sherpa of the Lost Paths, Af Ka’Dul, Baron of Moves-Like-This, but the one you may call me is Vahnuk. The name I was given once I sprung from my mother’s loins. It should suit your purposes quite nicely.”

What was in a name, truly? The names his people called him rang more of his essence than ‘Vahnuk’ ever could, though he had always known that humans and fae alike put false value in trifling things like names. Fae would come with three calls of their name, but no elf he knew had such weak will. If one calls across the void to you, you would come, but only because you wished to, not because some magician was trapping you.

She lacked dancing clothes?! No she didn’t! Voice ringing with glee, Vahnuk laughed. “You do not lack the clothes for dance! Dance is about expression and living, and one does not clothing to express joy or loathing! I would dance naked, but I fear that the rules of decency here are strange and alien, so I make do with what I have. And you too must make do. A dancer would not be a dancer if he needed to look the part, a dancer simply is.” And with those words, Vahnuk floated down a little bit more. Letting his right hand brush by hers, the invitation to a soirée became even more tangible.

“And the King asks once more of Hla Gahmerdehn, shall we dance?”

Ill Met By Moonlight, Lilia Empty Re: Ill Met By Moonlight, Lilia

Post by Twinkletoes November 11th 2013, 9:46 am

His reveal confirmed the girl's suspicions and Lilia felt a tad bit safer knowing that the kindly Elf was not of Illya's brood. The Unseelie and their ilk tended to mean one thing and one thing only, trouble and discord, so having the floating forest figure calm her worries was a welcome reprieve from her lingering paranoia. His way of speaking was peculiar, though anything but her native Russian seemed strange and the dainty ballerina sipped the deep timbre of his steady voice, it had a certain gravitas to it that only those grand enough could possess. Was he a great Elf warrior? Or a Prince perhaps? Such theories tickled what remained of Lilia's childish imagination and a little simper crept across her lips at the thought of being in the presence of royalty.

The grand list of titles only served to enlighten and entertain the skinny Russian even further, her brows furrowed in slight puzzlement at that more peculiar names. 'Taker of the Milk'? Maybe he was a cow thief like old Viktor, the strange man who once lived in her childhood village before Dominus burned it all down. The thought of this sublime Elf stealing from cows forced a windchime giggle to slip out of her lips, Lilia didn't mean to be rude...but laughter did take some edge of courtesies with magical strangers. But eventually the wizened elf settled for something her mouth could manage, Vanhuk. She quietly parroted the name and once she was sure it would stick Lilia finally stared back up at him, not knowing whether to look at the red eye or the blue eye.

"...I'm just Lilia." She smiled, rather embarrassed at having no other titles, maybe nicknames would count...but Twinkletoes and Crybaby didn't seem as attractive as 'Bedder of flames'.

Lilia shuffled under the cool breeze, brushing a strand of hair from her brow as she absorbed the wondrous sights and sounds that lit up the atmosphere. Who would've thought Elves lived in Atlanta? Or maybe this was a holiday, although such a question would remain silent, Lilia didn't want to trouble the Elf with such silly queries. Simply being in Vahnuk's presence felt like the complete opposite of when Illya was with her. The icy Unseelie was cold, cruel and terrifying, Vahnuk the stealer of cows was warm, polite and rather grand to look at. Lilia felt tiny compared to him, even more so considering he was floating above her.

Vahnuk's argument against her rather petty excuse forced a minor twinge of embarrassment to trickle across Lilia's porcelain cheeks. She was a dancer, that's what she was raised for and yet the memories of dancing with someone other than Skyler in nothing but her undies and a jersey felt a bit jarring. The men at Dominus always made her dance, naked and chained, those memories still polluted her mind with the filthy remnants of her time in captivity. Lilia knew she was no longer their toy, she was as free as the wind now and it took several seconds of chewing on her lip and contemplating Vahnuk's offer did she tentatively reach for his hand. "Okay.." Lilia whispered, not entirely sure how she was supposed to curtesy without her usual ballet outfit.

Summoning the icy tendrils of energy deep from her core down to the soles of her petite feet Lilia carefully began to lightly tip toe on the air, following Vahnuk higher and higher. This Fae gift was still a relatively new discovery for her and the dainty ballerina tried her best to keep her steps steady and graceful. Just like normal walking...just like normal walking... she internally chanted, watching the earth beneath her feet disappear under the open air. By then her tiny hands were tightly clutched on to the Elf's own and a deep flush of scarlet touched her cheeks the instance she remembered the creatures below her could see the scars that lined her bare legs.

"I'm still learning..." She mumbled, frowning at what she assumed to be a very elementary display of wind-walking. Illya could do it, Vahnuk could do it and yet she wobbled like a toddler and fussed over the fact that magical elves could see her knickers if they wanted to.

But Lilia knew better than to stress when offered to dance, that was the one thing she was good at and after taking in a deep breath she cleared her mind and looked back at the ancient figure, clutching his hands and hoping to heaven that she wouldn't fall back down to earth and embarrass herself.

Ill Met By Moonlight, Lilia Empty Re: Ill Met By Moonlight, Lilia

Post by keblinky November 11th 2013, 11:54 am

“Lilia! What a wonderful name, like tinkling bells in the wind. Rattling skulls hanging of a tree, or even a flute played by a satyr. Your name sings of poetry my fair Hla Gahmerdehn.” Vahnuk had slipped back into Russian, the woman had answered him in the language after all. Smiling warmly, the elf firmly grasped her gentle hand.

Ah, so she could dance across the sky as well! That was certainly something, not all had the gift to walk upon air. “Still learning? You have shown the aptitude needed to walk upon the ground, and walking upon the air is no different. As a King, all roads are open to me, and the sky is merely a road above roads. If it makes it easier, think of the sky as a dance floor that you have to step up onto. Just a little jump, nothing more. After all, anything else would be quite the bore!” And with this, Vahnuk twirled Lilia across the sky.

Catching her with easy confidence, the elf smiled. “Aha, see! It is not so difficult after all. All you needed to do was relax.” Taking her by the hand and continuing their little dance, Vahnuk took the lead.

“So, how is it that a Fae appears to be so human? Your kind can warp to appear different than you truly are, but I see no illusion around you. Nor do I detect the faintest hint of magic disguising you. And so this leads me to ask, where and when are you from? Notice I ask when, for time skips around itself like a small child, and if you have fallen through some rabbit hole, not unlike that Alice I keep hearing about, perhaps I could bring you back? A King would not let one of his subjects be lost for such a long time, and surely your mother, father, or both worry for your sake. Unless of course you live here, in which case, what brings a Fae to a place as mundane as this?” Vahnuk’s Russian was tinged with the lilting ups and downs that were natural to his own tongue, making the language sound just a little off. As if he had learned it only through reading, and not through listening.

“Now then, those questions were quite severe. And this King is more gracious than he is wise, and so he would answer any question you have, whether you choose to respond to the queries above or not.” A King’s value was not through wisdom or power, but through graciousness and charity. And so he was always forthcoming in such instances, for a King must always be Kingly, and not just when it suits him.

Keeping the little Russian Fae dancing, Vahnuk watched as his illusions danced playfully below them. The scent of earthy yet otherworldly perfumes was thick in the air, and so was the scent of Royalty. Unbeknownst to Vahnuk, this little Fae was the daughter of a Queen. The Queen of Winter to be exact.

Vahnuk was definitely someone from another time and place, the way he walked, talked and handled himself equally foreign as it was alluring. Lilia could not shy away from his grandiloquence and found it particularly fitting that he truly was a king, or so he says. Vahnuk spoke in metaphors, as if normal speech bored him and riddles were the only thing that could freely slip off his tongue. If Lilia weren't so preoccupied with staying afloat she may have attempted to catch on to every syllable that formed on his mouth, study the way he spoke and do more than quietly smile like some mute maiden.

Her lips formed into a little 'o' when the magical cow thief twirled her midair, the rush of midnight wind whipping over her bare skin like cool waters. A nervous giggle ruptured Lilia's stunned silence and the ballerina found herself finishing the pirouette, not daring to look down at the cheering crowd of elves and forest folk. Although her movements were deft and as light as a feather the young Unseelie still found herself clutching on to Vahnuk.

Even though he towered over her and it strained her neck to even stare at his face, Lilia continued to gently sway with him, trusting that this ancient elf knew what he was doing and that she wouldn't hurtle back down to earth because of one misstep. Vahnuk was certainly a lot more graceful than his lanky exterior would suggest and the slim, bare-legged ballerina had seemingly found herself someone who could match her own surefooted steps. Lilia's dainty toes skimmed across the air like sweet kisses, her swift steps keeping up with the Elf's longer strides and before she knew it she was in perfect rhythm with him. The porcelain skinned girl was lost in the moment, not entirely worried about the fact that she was technically dancing on nothing.

Catching her breath, Lilia took the moment to gaze up at the sea of stars above their little soirée, chewing her lower lip as she quietly listened to the kindly old Elf's queries. Some of the posed questions she did not even know the answer to, so she fumbled with with the edge of her jersey whilst thinking of adequate responses.

"I am Human!...I-I mean I think I am. People say I'm a metahuman but I don't know anymore..." Lilia mumbled, frowning at what Illya had revealed to her all those months ago. She was born from a human father and an Unseelie mother, making her some peculiar little hybrid, a 'changeling' she was called. But Lilia did not want to admit that openly, not yet anyway. "I'm from a little village in Russia a-and I was born in 2002." She whispered, shivering slightly at the memories of her old, simple life back when she thought she was just a normal human child. The reference to Alice in Wonderland forced a meek simper to cross her lips because it did feel a bit relevant. Life was so topsy-turvy, now with the added addition of her Unseelie mother the little ballerina was utterly lost in this newfound magical world that she was a part of. "My mother...uhh, she's away but I'm sure she's not worried, she has better things to do. My father died a long time ago so I'm living with my guardian not far from here, she protects me and is very kind." Lilia shrugged, sighing at the woeful tale of her messy living arrangements. But at least she answered the questions, hopefully they sated the Elf's curiosity.

His offer to have his own life asked about sprouted several questions at the back of Lilia's throat. What was she supposed to ask the king of the Elves? Scrunching her toes and pursing her lips the porcelain skinned girl tentatively looked back up at the elegant male, not entirely sure how to start.

"D-do they have cows where you come from...?" She asked, a bit embarrassed that such a thing was her first query. Taking in a deep breath the dainty Fae wracked her mind for questions more fitting for someone of his status. "Where are you from a-and what's it like? Do you have any children and do they steal milk as well? Who are all these people and...and why are some naked?" Lilia blushed, her twinkling voice quiet as it was sweet. "...what can you tell me about the Unseelie?"

She just had to know.

Aha, so the woman could just let go and dance! Delightful. Human? Metahuman? Words and phrases that meant nothing, such broad categories of classification. “If you have the sickly sweet ichor of humanity in your veins, it must be diluted. Your presence in the higher planes is too strong and too pungent, if I were to guess, I would say you were a halfbreed. I believe they call them ‘changelings’. Personally, all I would think of you as is dancer, because that is what you are. Just as I am King, you are Dancer.” The twisting words of this elfish prince were getting a tad too tangled up at this point, he just hoped she would understand him.

As her birthplace and time were revealed, Vahnuk nodded. She did indeed belong in this place. Unless of course she didn’t wish to, in which case he could take her to other places, but that might prove a tad difficult, if she was indeed as human as she said she was. They didn’t really squidge as easily as others. “Russia is a beautiful land. A bit cold for my tastes, but it still leaks with history and culture, did you know that one of your Russians once poked his head into my realm? It was quite the experience, I believe he went insane a short while afterwards…”

Twirling once more, this time narrowly missing a tree, Vahnuk listened to more of this woman’s tales. Her parents were dead, and she stayed with her guardian? Best not to prod there, she didn’t seem very forthcoming about it. “My parents exploded some time ago, they were quite enjoyable to be raised by while they lasted though.”

Cows?! The woman spoke of cows? Of course they had cows! How else would he steal milk? “Well yes, we have cows! We have godcows, redcows, greencows, and even othercows, but they’re all cows. To answer your second query, I am from somewhere Else, and to give it a name would be to do it a dishonor. It is strange, wonderful, and not at all bland. The world I live in is more shaped by imagination and wonder than by rules and reality. All beings are my children, and I am sure some steal milk. The people around us are elves, and they are naked because your insipid human cultural quirk of ‘modesty’ never reached our realm.” Vahnuk gave her a curious look as she mentioned wanting to know about the Unseelie, but he had to oblige.

“Unseelie are fae, and they are tricksters by natures. Not to say the Seelie are saints, but if you would compare them, an Unseelie would be a serial killer, while a Seelie would be a con artist. Those who call themselves Unseelie are divided into courts of Winter and Autumn, though there is little difference between their dispositions. At least from what this old elf has seen. Though do not trouble yourself, blood does not bind! It only appears to do so, one can be a terrible Seelie and a wondrously good Unseelie, you do not have to fear for the sanctity of your mind.” Giving the little Dancer another twirl, Vahnuk continued to think strange thoughts, as he always did. Hopefully he had given this woman some insight into her heritage.
