The Aristocrat. Empty The Aristocrat.

Post by AcceptablyPsycho February 21st 2013, 8:49 pm

The Aristocrat
I don't like the term "crazy". I prefer "reality deficient

Basic Biography

Real Name: Arthur Donovan
Renegade/Hero/Villain Name: The Aristocrat
Alignment: Chaotically Evil (varied to Neutral Evil)
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Race: Caucasian
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Blue
Height: 6'0
Weight: 204lbs
Blood type: AB+

The Looks

The Aristocrat:

The Legacy

Personality: Arthur is very suave, charming, sophisticated and logical. He is also very psychotic, a scheming, conniving individual with little trust for anyone, even those who feel they are 'close' to him. He is demented but hides it extremely well, under his upper-class manner.

History: : Rumours are that he is a vampire from the 15th Century. Some say he sold his soul to Satan. Others claim he IS Satan, or at least the spawn of. Theories range from the immortal Dorian Gray to the reincarnation of Hitler to The Antichrist. But Arthur is just a man. An extraordinary man, he'll say himself, but just a mortal, if very psychotic, man.
Most psychopaths are created through troubled childhoods, traumatic experiences or too many psychotropic chemicals. None of these occurred with Arthur. He had the best education, lessons in piano, fencing, martial arts and riding, there was nothing that Arthur couldn't have in the world, and yet he still felt empty.
He found he was fascinated with the bloody histories of humanity. The World Wars, the Inquisition, the Salem Witch Trials, all of these helped fill that emptiness inside his soul. But the void grew bigger. He even found himself rifling through the heroes vs. villains stories, the more violent, the better. But he found that he was more attracted to ideas of the villains than the do-good morals of the heroes. He was obsessed with them. He was 14.
By the age of 21, his psychosis had manifested itself into Arthur killing animals, then extending to renting whores in the local slums and violently abusing them, leaving many traumatised. He had also inherited his family's estate and fortune as both his mother and father had passed away from cancer. Arthur was devastated, or he appeared to be, if he had not known they would eventually die from cancer, seeing as he had been slipping small amounts of the fungi Aspergillus flavus into their meals. He has since then developed his assets to assert himself as a villain.

The Powers

Powers: While he possesses no natural metahuman abilities, Aristocrat has had years of physical training, practice in the mystic arts, such as alchemy and basic spell casting, helping to augment his own natural intellect. He is a skilled swordsman and martial artist. He is very agile and acrobatic but only after years of practice and rigorous training. He also has high logical and reasoning skills, and is very intellectual.

Weaknesses: The Aristocrat is adverse to nearly all forms of modern technology, almost to the point of complete irrationality. He despises tech heroes and even fellow villains for their use of it. It is unknown whether this is due to his psychosis or other factor, but it has prevented him from integrating properly into the world.

Grid
Occult:5
Strength:4

Durability:4
Ability:0
Fighting Skills:5
Magic:3
Spells: 3

Weapon Proficiency (Basic): Ability to understand and use any and all weapons with the proficiency of a master. Must be in physical possession of the weapon, be it alien, magical or otherwise. This power is knowledge based only. Arthur cannot use weapons not designed for him e.g. weapons designed for character with immense STR or high Magical skills.

Magical Sense (Basic): YThe ability to sense when a magical object/being is nearby. Works for all types of magic i.e. Elemental, Mana, Necromancy. Ranges between 15-40 feet, depending on the power of the item/individual.

Close-Range Danger Intuition: (Low): In close range combat (2-4 meters) he can anticipate the enemies attacks. Not as effective against multiple enemies as it does not give direction or what kind of attack it will be. Long range attacks completely bypass the alert.

Shurikenjutsu Manipulation (Low): Can influence the direction of his throwing knives, or any other objects that have been dipped in a special brewed potion, mid-flight. The change in direction is not major however, no sharp turns and no large, heavy objects.

Disorienting Touch (Med): Arthur can instill a short-term disorienting dizziness over his opponents. He must have direct contact with the skin and the effect only lasts 10 seconds maximum. Effect is continuous if he maintains contact.

Alchemy (Med): Can craft potions. limited healing, poison and smokescreen and illusionary multiples of himself for example. Can imbue basic magical properties onto items e.g ever-burning candles, unbreakable containers, more durable weapons. Requires a lab and time to imbue the qualities.

A magic stat of 2 is far too low for necromancy and you'd only get very limited alchemy and it wouldn't be even close to powerful. You also have to list spells and the effects produced.

What's the 1 point in Ability for?

The 1 point wasn't actually meant to be there, I must not have updated the grid fully when I revised his powers/history. Apologies, Oh Great One!

As for the Magic, Spells, Necromancy and Alchemy, that's fine. I'll discard the Necromancy and split the 3 Spells between the limited alchemy. As I've stated, he only been looking into them, so his powers would be basic to low. I'll bring it to Basic Potion Making, Small Item Conjuration and Basic Elemental Transmutation?

Elemental transmutation really isn't allowed. Your character's INT is 5 but hates technology. Perhaps you should lower it in order to have points available elsewhere, particularly the magic and spells category to expand those.

Thing is, I'd prefer him to be a human villain, opposed to a super powered one. Dipping into the magical arts, opposed to being a magical conjurer. INT is high as one would need to find alternatives to modern tech in the old ways, and just because he dislikes modern tech, does not mean he can't be a scientist/inventor, no?

But if the Magic issue is causing too much hassle, I can remove the points and spread them among the others.

For Magic, you need to have points in the Magic stat; at least 4 if you're going to have 2 points in Spells. If you're not going to put more than 2 points into magic, there's no reason is having over 1 point in your spells.

With Spells; you get 5 points in spells; every 2 points, you're eligible for a 2 spells. The levels of spells increase as follows: Basic, Low, Medium, High, Ultimate. So, a Mage can have a total of 10 spells per Magic Stat. Magic reaches 10 slots; that is the 'Mana Pool' for your spells; meaning, it's the power level at which your attacks, or magic is best at.

So, as of now, you should really give your character 3 magic, and 2 spells; this would make him eligible for 2 Basic Spells, and 2 Low Spells; which would be perfect for your character.

I have a few characters right now that have low and basic spells as their only magic.

See [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Hopefully looking at their grids will help you better.

I also understand Forcewave was helping you, but I'm going to take over, if he's not opposed.

OK Chell, I've made what I think are the correct changes to my grid. What was throwing me was the use of the word Spell twice in the Magic description. You get 2 Spell slots and in those slots you get two more spells of a certain lvl . Whut?? Might I suggest changing the Basic, Low etc Spells to Basic, Low etc "Incantations". Just a thought and unrelated here really.

So how does it look? (please say good, please say good, please say good)

Interesting grid. So you're going to have INT and OCC be increased in the future, correct? Because if not, you're putting points in a stat that's not necessary. But as long as you have the idea in your character's future for both INT and OCC stats being higher than.. 5, having them both at 4 is fine.

And what I meant by that is this:

Spells have 5 slots on the grid.

Each Slot for Spells gives you 2 points.

Slot 1 - 2 Spells (Your 2 Basic Spells) - Current Spell Total: 2

Slot 2 - 2 Spells (Your 2 Low Spells) - Current Spell Total: 4

Slot 3 - 2 Spells (Your 2 Medium Spells) - Current Spell Total: 6

^ and you get the pattern, of course.

And, as goes for "incantations" it all depends on the creativity of the magic/spell/mage user on this board.

We don't tell you you have to have incantations. We allow you to have whatever kind of.. magic you wish; but it's restricted to 10 spells with a full Spell stat (5 Slots) and a full magic stat (10 slots)

So, keep that in mind.

But, if stated before, about your INT and OCC, if that's the case:

You're approved; save for the 31 points you've placed on your grid. You have 1 too many wealth points, unless you're going to sacrifice another physical stat point to keep your wealth in the high millions.

For your spells and stuff, it seems to me like he only needs low millions, just my advice.

Sorry, was jiggling points around and must have misplaced that one. It was meant to be in the low millions anyway so no harm done there. As for my statst are you saying that INT and OCC are equivalent? So INT is for Science-based characters and OCC is for Magick-based ones? Or is it dependent which team you're on, hero or villain? Cuz if that's the case, I can drop INT.

That is exactly correct.

If you read over the state equivalents for INT and OCC, the first three points in each stat have the same description, though OCC leans more toward the Supernatural, and INT leans more toward Technology. It's great for characters who are Solely Smartypants and need gadgets that are Techy and Magical.

So, yes, you could drop INT if your character is solely mastered in the magical field; it'd be nice to have more Occult-only users. :]

You don't need INT if you only want OCC.

And, I see that reflected in your grid.

You still have 31 points on your grid, though.

Drop your wealth stat to 2; meaning you have low millions money-wise, and we're good to go.

Sorry again for all the hassle, still trying to wrap my head around how exactly all this works.

Unless I'm adding everything up completely wrong, I have exactly 30 points on my grid? 5+4+5+4+6+3+3=30, no? Unless Spells are accounted in the grid as well, but then that would give me 32 not 31?

5 + 4 + 5 + 4 + 6 + 3 + 2 + 2 = 31

Everyone starts with 1 Wealth; and you've placed your wealth at 3.

Meaning that's 2 additional wealth points to the "free" first point.
