The Will of the Skies Empty The Will of the Skies

Post by The Silence March 29th 2012, 7:51 am

In his travels, Doctor Necrodium found and conquered many mythological creatures. Some were mightier than others, but none were quite as strange as the Elementals. Unlike other monsters and beasts, Elementals were the forces of nature given physical form. No matter where they lay, they would never truly die, but like all forces of nature, they were easily manipulated. With his power, Doctor Necrodium had subjected the very forces of the earth to his will, and among them stood the scion of his Aerial Assault, The Cloud. With no name to describe it, people would only see something in their everyday life before they were obliterated by the creature's powerful lightning strikes. With a body that was almost impossible to generalize, the Cloud was an attacker that no one would suspect. Causing part of its body to turn into a mist, The Cloud was more than able to sneak in attacks. But in addition, it was more than capable of facing opponents head on.

Coming into view of the Queens Borough, The Cloud seeped over the land, the massive cloud covering the area as it began to loom around the heroes that decided to face it in mortal combat. Transforming its cloud body into a fine mist, The Cloud surrounded those who dared to face it, letting them know that they were surrounded. Slowly but surely, the heroes of the New York Aerial Defense were surrounded, and if they couldn't stop The Cloud here, the rest of New York would suffer.

"Doctor.... ordered.... death...." The Cloud whispered around the heroes, it mocked them, challenged them. It wanted their blood, for the sake of its fabricated purpose of destruction. "Face.... if.... dare...."

(Now The Cloud is gonna be your final boss here, I have no idea who was sent here to face it, Forcewave stated that you have already chosen a group, so next poster tell me who is fighting against The Cloud. As the final boss, The Cloud is meant to be stronger than most of you, and provide an interesting challenge. In this case, you vision has been blocked, and now you have to find and kill The Cloud before it kills you)

The Will of the Skies Empty Re: The Will of the Skies

Post by Ember_Fangs March 29th 2012, 4:14 pm

Group; Scarletta, Forcewave, Ranger & Pheonix
Mission; Bring down the Cloud monster by combining individual skills.
Posting order; Ibis, Ember, Forcewave, Ranger, Pheonix [For arguments sake]

Scarletta's boots echoed on the cement as she made her way towards the massing grey cloud. It had snaked around her area of Queens and lulled her into a strange calm. Scar, after all, had a very strong element within her and she had been a part of the Angel of Elements before. The connection to the elements lingered in her soul and so she was surprisingly calm as she followed willingly to the Cloud's centre. She hadn't felt the touch of Air since her parting with Faith and she welcomed it happily - air after all fuelled fire. She hadn't come across an Air elemental in a very long time, she had come to believe they were in fact extinct. Or just extremely rare. Yet here one was in the middle of New York. Being the first in the little circle she put her hands on her hips and waited, assessing the large creature. She was not going to underestimate the creature's powers - hell for all she knew this elemental had the power to take the very air from her lungs and make her effectively drown on land. A gruesome death but not out of the question.

"I haven't seen one of the Aerial's in a long time," she murmured and walked round in a small circle to see if there was any difference in it. The Cloud itself seemed to be occupied elsewhere, this was just the centre of it. It didn't seem to care she was speaking and she didn't care about it's lack of response. Instead she called upon the raw element she held inside her - which had turned her into something non-human; a 'child' of the elemental's - and drew it over her skin in a comforting cloak. Her skin turned into a molten liquid and her hair caught a flame at the tips of her curls but made no further progress. She didn't want to go fully inferno but she didn't want to remain normal either. This Cloud needed to know it had another elemental near it, that it had someone who KNEW what it was.

"I wonder if you remember the Angel Faith," she mused. "The one who helped to make you all," she folded her arms over her chest. "You don't have to do this you know. The person who ordered Death," she was aware others were there now to hear this little bit of her speech. "What has he done to the mighty Air in order to break and control it? I thought you were stronger than that. One of the strongest of Elemental s. And yet Fire nor water attack a city like this. They're strong," she frowned. "I'm disappointed." Hopefully her speech would aggravate the monster. She wanted to know exactly what he could do instead of it being a shock later on. Some Air Elemental's had a specialist area and she wanted to make sure she wouldn't find herself with no oxygen in the middle of the fight which was coming.

The Will of the Skies Empty Re: The Will of the Skies

Post by Forceaus March 29th 2012, 4:39 pm

Forcewave walked away from his previous location and away from the base where others continued to fight the numerous attacking forces. They had been doing well which is what allowed him to leave for he needed to.An ominous cloud now loomed over the area. Its very nature as mysterious as its appearance.Lightning passed through it signaling its power.
He could only walk around trying to understand this thing. He was not sure how to engage this thing. He could tell this thing was evil simply through the aura it projected. He just continued walking forward wary of a sudden attack by it.As he moved from one street to another he spotted someone in the distance.Through the darkness caused by this strange cloud it was impossible for him to tell who it was.He thought that perhaps this was whom was causing these clouds to appear. That perhaps they were a form of energy brought forth by an individual and that this person was the one doing so.
As he drew closer he saw that it was in fact Scarletta and that she was talking to the dark mass as if it were something she had known from before. He did not know what to think of this.Instead he just prepared to fight if need be.

The Will of the Skies Empty Re: The Will of the Skies

Post by The Ranger March 29th 2012, 5:42 pm

The Ranger raced away from the stadium at top speed, battling sentries left and right with the help of Nightraven, unsure of when or even if they would reach the artillery station that was on the other side of Queens in time. He assumed Black Arrow as already there but the man was not answering his communicator and as of now he was missing in action for Ranger did not want to assume the worst. They had gotten a couple miles before a cloud loomed over them and the cloud spoke, stopping the Right Hand of Jesus in his tracks as he yelled at raven to continue on and find a group that needed help. Swinging his grappling hook he let it fly off into the air and up onto the top of the roof where he raced up it joining the other two heroes that seemed to have spotted it as well.

When he got there he automatically pulled out his compound bow and notched an exploding arrow, though only half, or thirty, of them were left in his quiver he knew that whatever this thing was it was not normal and his most powerful arrow would be needed. He held the notched bow and arrow down by his side waiting for the time to strike, but also listening to the speech that was being given by Scarletta. It was as if she knew who the cloud was, as if she had met it or something like it before and any knowledge about this thing would be needed. As a cloud like monster he figured it had to do something with the elements of rain, lightning, wind or thunder, all of them he was prepared to face yet unsure if he would be able to defeat. Hell he wasn’t even sure if his arrows would pass right through this beast or not, this was not something a lawyer or even a Phantom saw every day, he was way out of his league with magic. But, if he was able to defeat Elena Marie then why not a cloud, he was a Phantom after all, was he not? “So what’s the plan here?” He asked in his deep, dark, yet serious voice letting it be known he had some sort of plan but was ready to hear anything from those around him.

The Will of the Skies Empty Re: The Will of the Skies

Post by Andrew March 31st 2012, 12:40 am

Phoenix saw a giant, unnatural cloud looming and decided to check it out. He left Rockaway and headed in the direction. He was running full speed, and with intention. Legs pumping, heart racing. The assault was taking its toll on the heros body, and spirit. He was fighting tediously, and more and more threats came his way. It seemed every 10 he took out, 20 would come. This was annoying Phoenix, however he was keeping it calm and collected to make sure he kept his thoughts straight. Now was not exactly the time to lose his cool.

Phoenix was arriving on the scene when he noticed a familiar face, Forcewave. He was accompanied by Scarletta, and The Ranger. "Hey guys what's going o...." he was cut off by the giant cloud above them. He didn't realize before how big it truly was. It seemed different. Suddenly Phoenix realized it wasn't just a cloud, but a living creature. "Now I have seen it all."

"We need a plan and we need one fast. With the city going to hell around us, we have to get this out of the way as soon as possible. Time is not exactly on our side." Phoenix said in a serious tone. Fire started to form around his arms and he clenched his fists and waited to hear what the others had to say.

The Will of the Skies Empty Re: The Will of the Skies

Post by The Silence April 1st 2012, 5:44 am

The Cloud watched as the four warriors of New York came to face it in a battle to the death, lurking around them, preparing its attack before pleasantries were made between it and the ones who dared to face it. It looked underneath them, through them, around them; searching for openings, the weakest link, something to give it an edge. Though dim in mind, The Cloud was a natural hunter, and knew its limits, and it worked to not have to push them. But as it observed those that it was going to face, The Cloud noticed another being like itself, an elemental of Fire and Light. At first backing away from the sight of another of its kind, The Cloud could see that it was the mightier of the two, but the Angel Faith was still an opponent that should not be taken lightly. She questioned The Cloud's reasoning, what made Doctor Necrodium convince it to attack New York the way it did. As transparent as the wind, The Cloud could do nothing but answer.

"Doctor... show...humans..." The Cloud began speaking in whispers, as it always did. Its sound rebounded around its cloud body, allowing the illusion that it was everywhere, and nowhere at the same time. The Cloud wasn't like Doctor Necrodium's other minions, it was in New York by obligation, duty as it were. The sounds and echoes rebounded its calming, but mighty call "Humans...destroy...we...purge..."

As true as it wanted to sound, The Cloud was to purge the entirety of the human race wherever it went, no matter what age or how they lived their lives. Through the use of his magic, Doctor Necrodium had shown The Cloud the massive amounts of destruction that the Human Race was committing to the planet, forests cut down in massive properties, seas fished out of wildlife, life polluted by fuels of unnatural state, massive destruction from wars and their nuclear devices. The Cloud itself would have never seen such a thing from high above, it would have taken it decades, centuries, maybe even millenia before it realized what was going on. As a force of Nature itself, The Cloud had no choice but to follow Doctor Necrodium, who was following another force of Nature.

"Doctor...bringing....BALANCE...." The Cloud shrieked at the last word, like a massive buffet from a gale of wind. The Cloud was not one to explain itself, like the wind it was one that howled its cries when challenged. Now, quick to anger, the whispers and shrieks became a boom around the heroes, The Cloud was preparing to attack. The fog crackling with electric current as it began to charge its first volley "HUMANS....CHAOS....DIE!!!..."

With a flash, from above, The Cloud presented itself, like a ghost made of cloud, it manifested itself with more density than the cloud that it had created. The flash came and went as The Cloud unleashed a flurry of lightning from above, it was not a being to be underestimated, and as quick as the flash that came, the Cloud retreated into the dense fog again. Anyone who would wish to harm it would have to catch it during its retreat, for once it was in the fog once again, it was nearly untouchable.

The Will of the Skies Empty Re: The Will of the Skies

Post by Ember_Fangs April 1st 2012, 9:02 am

As the Cloud was deciding to wait for others to arrive Scar decided to fill them in on what she knew, her eyes never leaving the centre of the fog in which she knew they would have to strike.

"It's an Air Elemental," she glanced to the others briefly before looking back again. "Air is meant to be the most peaceful of the Elemental's, it's role is to conserve life and protect it. I thought they had all been whipped out in the Purge a long long time ago." For a moment, Scarletta looked a lot older, her green eyes darkened and if examined closely they could see the golden sphere that burled and circled around her pupil, a very un-human look. With a blink it was gone and the Angel Eyes left, becoming light and clear again. The Cloud was beginning to rumble as the last person arrived - Phoenix if she remembered quietly.

"If you want to attack it, you'll have to wait till it comes out. This is just the outer edges of it's form," she winced slightly at the whisperings. Human's were destructive but not all of them. As the Air elemental got a lot more angered about the issue Scar put her hands on her hips. She could really do with Faith right now... Her lips pressed into a thin line and as the winds began to pick up - instead of moving away - took a step forward.

"Air can't affect the Earth or Ice..." she called over the rising winds. Fire... well. Depended if it was intelligent enough to figure out the gases it would need to disarm in order to make fire useless. When the elemental however began using lightening she relaxed. It meant she wouldn't be lacking air any time soon.

"When you see a gap in the middle there, run TOWARDS it. It's the heart," she shouted as another bolt of lightening hit the pavement, cracking it all along the cement. Scarletta moved as the spike came towards her and she muttered a work in angelic - a language Faith had also left with her. Skipping lightly to one side she glanced towards the cloud whose form had just appeared. Taking a deep breath the fire cracked along her skin, her hair making a flaming mass of curls instead and where she trod it glowed red from the heat. She put her hands together and blew. A molten wave of fire shot like a lethal ribbon towards the heart of the cloud, cutting through the wispy outer edges and plunging into the heart of the cloud.

The Will of the Skies Empty Re: The Will of the Skies

Post by Forceaus April 1st 2012, 1:51 pm

And so it would be the cloud amassed itself around them all as they gathered together to engage it.Looming over them all like an otherworldy being of a greater race.Scarletta began to explain the true nature of the cloud.Truths of what it is and what it was capable of were given away as the dark clouds swilled with electricity from the power of its lightning.Forcewave began preparing to attack. His energy now charging up so he could be ready to strike when the time comes."So I guess we just wait for this thing to show itself.Alright then so be it."He said quietly.Just audible enough for the others to hear him.
He could now hear a voice coming from the dark fog though he could not quite make out what it was saying. The voice was barely even a whisper, no louder than he had been when he just spoke seconds earlier, yet it could be heard coming in every direction. He looked around and around for something that looked different from the dark fog that had engulfed the area.Looking for something that could be its true form.
He then heard a terrifying shriek right before the wind picked up immensely like it was determined to blow away their hope of survival and victory as the lightning moving through it made it seem angry and full of hatred and bloodlust. It was from above that it finally made itself visible to them.Sending lightning down upon them.Forcewave fired back at it as he moved away from the electric bolt and continued his attack was clear of it until he could no longer see the cloud's true form whether that be because it had been hit or that it had gotten away he knew not.He decided to go with the second of the two possibilites thinking it was better to prepare for the worst.

The Will of the Skies Empty Re: The Will of the Skies

Post by The Ranger April 1st 2012, 2:51 pm

The Ranger listened to all that was said, knowing that what they did here today would decide the fate of not only their selves, and Queens, but the world too. For if they failed to defeat this monster, this creature of the air then all else would fall along with them. That was not something he was going to let happen on his watch, so he aimed his bow and waited for the cloud to show its true form, hoping to god that Scarletta knew what exactly the true form looked like. Of course he knew that this thing had to be dangerous but he just couldn’t see how in the world a cloud could hurt them, and then of course came the lightning. It was just like that line from an old T.V. show his dad used to talk about, something along the lines of ‘Don’t fear the cloud, fear the lightning’.

The King of Stealth sprinted over to Scarletta and blinked finally realizing why the name was so familiar, of course it didn’t matter right now but she was Paine’s surrogate mother of sorts. When she unleashed her flames he aimed his bow for the heart of the beast and unleashed the exploding arrow sprinting at full speed now he left her in the dust, having turned invisible he leaped after the thing and shot off another exploding arrow before landing on the ground and dodging a lightning bolt. Whipping his brow The Crimson Archer looked around trying to see how everyone else was doing, noticing they were having limited success as he himself was. This was not going to end well for anyone if they didn’t figure out a plan and figure it out now.

Taking action he sprinted off behind ‘The Inferno’ and whispered in her ear “We need to combine our attacks together, if you can distract it long enough I can try and sprint in and take it out from the inside with an exploding arrow.” He muttered watching it slink back into cover from the attacks, it flew through the air and that was one place none of them could go. They were all flightless heroes and though that might leave them at a disadvantage it also put them at the advantage of sorts, for if they could fly they’d more than likely be the first target the cloud went after, but sense none of them could than the attacks would stay random and not thought out. If they worked together and centered their attacks they could defeat this elemental monster that he knew for certain. Queens would not fall under his watch, they would come out triumphant if it was in God’s grace for them to do so, the world would not end this day.

The Will of the Skies Empty Re: The Will of the Skies

Post by Andrew April 1st 2012, 4:49 pm

Phoenix was beginning to truly understand what he was up against with his companions. Scarletta helped make it more and more clear to him. So there was only 1 thing to do, wait for it to show itself. Fire was already being created around Phoenix's arms and legs. Then, the creature stuck. Lighting came down on them from the sky, and Phoenix rolled out of the way of the attack. With that he came up and blasted a huge wave of fire up at the sky, hoping to hit his target. "Forcewave, let's try some combos!" he shouted over to his fellow Talon.

Phoenix did a back handspring and was now next to Forcewave. He started creating a large fireball in front of him. "Ok so, I'll blast this thing at him, and back it with one of your attacks." One again lighting stuck in front of him, causing him to lose focus and get a backfire. Phoenix went flying on his back across the street and slammed into a car. "What I'd give for super durability." he said as he sat up against the side of the door. He stood up and closed his eyes, he opened them and looked up at the sky, and blasted a fire ball at the best for all he was worth. He screamed as he gave it his all.

The Will of the Skies Empty Re: The Will of the Skies

Post by The Silence May 4th 2012, 5:41 pm

Moving away from its quarry, The Cloud returned to its mist form, trying to calculate in its own primitive way the weakest out of the creatures that it was currently hunting. Despite the fact that it was a being that did not really understand the extent of machinery, The Cloud could measure by instinct just how formidable each of its opponents were. Each creature before it was formidable in its own right, nothing but instinct driving it to believe that even without evident elemental powers, none of them seemed to be truly lack luster. However, The Cloud was dangerous as it was resourceful, and it would display that trait.

"Nothing...destroy...wind..." The Cloud whispered towards all of its opponents, it was letting them hear it all over the place, as it was in reality. No one truly understood the nature of wind spirits, they were all fickle beings. But soon the heroes would be direct where the creature wanted them to go. Materializing itself and its solidified form, The Cloud developed its vocal cords to produce a powerful, eardrum bleeding screech. "OOOOWAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!"

Letting loose a bolt of lighting in quick succession to moving in a circular motion, The Cloud immediately broke off after attacking and shot off straight into the air, leaving a trail behind it for the heroes to follow, as it was heading towards the location of all the protected citizens of Queens. Doctor Necrodium informed The Cloud that these creatures valued the lives of others before themselves, something that even something primitive like The Cloud could think of taking advantage of.

The Will of the Skies Empty Re: The Will of the Skies

Post by Ember_Fangs May 5th 2012, 7:01 pm

Distraction.... Scar could do distractions. When the cloud began to move however she did worry about what exactly she was going to do. It needed to be stopped or slowed down. Her eyes went to the buildings around them and she took a deep, steadying breath. She nodded an affirmative to Ranger and then took off to one of the buildings to her left. Jumping onto one of the fire escape pull down ladders she swung up onto the platform and made her way onto the roof. Once there she cast her eyes to the cloud she was now level with and took off at a sprint after it, leaping the gap between the buildings with her heart in her mouth. God she hated heights but it had to be done. Fire sleeked over her body from toes to head and made her appear like a streaky blur of white hot light to anyone watching her. If only she had wings. That would freak the air elemental out for sure. If she could appear to be the elemental angel which had had a hand in its creation then it would act as a distraction hopefully. She didn't have wings but she could make them. The fire that licked over her body suddenly shot from her shoulders as she twisted it into the shape of two beautiful pairs of wings, much like the ons she had had when still stuck with Faith. Scar thought of the only thing she could which was to whistle, a loud shrieking whistle which pieced the sky.

"Oi, air head," she shouted, eyeing up the bar in front off her. Instead of jumping to the next building she jumped from the jutted out pole and landed, knees bent on the concrete, cracking it. Her fiery wings spread out from her back and crackled as she did.

"Elemental to elemental, the humans don't need to be involved in this," her voice had changed. The London accent slipped away and her green eyes had taken on a golden sheen. She looked rather like an angel in that moment - and not just any angel. She looked like Faith.

The Will of the Skies Empty Re: The Will of the Skies

Post by Forceaus May 5th 2012, 8:39 pm

Oh so not good he thought. The cloud creature had completely avoided any and all attempts at an initial counter-attack upon it.It managed to dissipate back into its non solid form before any of their attacks could even reach it.How inconvient this was. This thing was clearly adept at the hit and run strategy.I guess being able to turn into air makes that all the more easier.
The cloud seemed to taunt them.Saying how nothing could destroy it."We'll see about that."He said quietly.Even though he had no actual desire to destroy this thing he would do so if left no other choice in the matter. If this being of the very air itself was going to endanger the city and its residents then he would of course try and prevent it.
He starting moving quickly in the direction that it had gone off in.Going down a different street than the others so they would not be grouped together for it to attack them all at once but nearby enough to keep track of both the creature itself and the other three people that were fighting this thing.Weaving about to make himself a difficult target for it to attack. He was prepared to attack all the while.Maybe if he managed to get close enough he could actually hit it before it could dissipate back into its cloud form.Considering that this creature seemed to prefer attacking from extraordinary heights it seemed more practical to get to higher ground himself. The others seemed to have the same idea in mind.He looked around for a way to get up to the rooftops. He could see a rooftop but its positioning would make it rather easy for the thing to attack him while using it.It was however better than being on a narrow street.
He quickly ran over to the fire escape and made his up it as fast as he could. From up here he could get a better view of the upper parts of the mist. The creature launched a combination of attacks out.A scream followed by another lightning bolt.Fortunately neither attack was in his direction. He could see where it was going however.Knowing where filled him with dread. It was heading to the place where the citizens were being kept under protection. He knew this from having been there earlier. This thing was now going after the people. They would be in extreme danger if it got to them.Feeling frightened about the possibility of harm coming onto those he loved he hurried off after it as fast as he could. An attack was being charged the entire way. This thing was going to be defeated as quickly as possible.

The Will of the Skies Empty Re: The Will of the Skies

Post by The Ranger May 6th 2012, 8:55 pm

The Ranger watched as Scarletta sprinted off to do her distraction, but his attention was turned away from her and onto the cloud when it spoke allowed from everywhere. Sure, it was a big ass cloud but it could be beaten if they tried their best for it didn’t seem to be too smart. As soon as it turned into its humanoid form Ranger shot off an exploding arrow right at center mass, the thing was fast but his arrows from this short of a distance had to be faster. The lightning bolts fired off in a circular motion was expected simply because of how primal this thing was and he dodged them easily by racing past them and jumping off to the next building.

When he landed ‘spider man style’ with his bow in his back left hand and looked up at the scene that was happening before him. Scarletta truly looked like an angle of death from the air, and the wings were an even better touch. Whistling lowly he whipped his brow and notched an exploding arrow, wishing he had packed more of them as he was down to his last fifteen and would need to use them sparingly. The situation in front of him hoping to god this thing Scarletta was planning worked. Because if it didn’t things were about to get a whole lot worse.

The cloud monster was heading towards the spot where the civilians were evacuated to, and if he reached it Ranger knew even with Black Knight and Black Arrow’s help it would be nigh impossible to stop this beast and save the civilians. In the end all heroes knew that was their main reason for doing the things they did, protect the people they swore to uphold and save, keep them from harm at all costs and hopefully come out alive themselves. He pulled the string back on his compound and aimed the arrow at the thing waiting for it to stop and listen to what Scar said, and if it turned back into its humanoid shape to deal with her he would act.

He would act by immediately releasing the arrow off into the beasts ‘back’ then sprinting off to the side and turning invisible so he could not be seen and the thing wouldn’t know what hit it. Though, if it doesn’t he simply continues chasing after it at full speed, jumping over the buildings when they came and trying to find some way to stop the monstrosity. When the thing gets close to two buildings it hits him and Ranger sprints to the building on his side and loads five snare arrows and fires them off rapidly not at the monster but the building at the other side. The wires were small and hardly noticeable but much stronger that steal and if the beast ran into them would hopefully be stopped in its tracks. There was of course the fact that it was made of air so he fired off four electric net arrows that were positioned in between each of the snare lines so it would also get shocked by electricity its self it ran into the nets.

The Will of the Skies Empty Re: The Will of the Skies

Post by Andrew May 6th 2012, 10:38 pm

Phoenix took a few moments to take hold of the situation as he started runing in circles blow the beast to dodge its attacks. Every few paces head jump to left or right. He had never gone full speed before, but he guessed it was around 80 miles per hour. As he reached his maximum speed she set his arms ablaze and started to create a tornado of fire that was floating up towards the cloud. He kept up the heat, and speed, trying to pump in as much fire as he could to help his comrades in the situation.

He skidded to a holt, and followed up with a flurry of fire attacks up at the sky. He did a back handspring and landed next to The Ranger. "Any ideas?" he asked as his left arm went ablaze and he fired a barrage of powerful fireballs towards this creature. "I have never seen anything likes this sir, and I don't know what to make of it. I lead my team into battles all the time, and create plans all the time. I'm usually a quick thinker, but for the first time i'm at a loss." Phoenix said as he looked up to the sky .
